Funding for Employee Training
Through TCC, you have access to two state-funded programs that help provide funding for employee training for your workforce.
Incumbent Worker Innovation Program
Administered locally by the Hampton Roads Workforce Council, this grant allows small businesses to gain their footing and develop a competitive edge through relevant and in-demand professional development for their incumbent workers. It is targeted to employers with 250 employees or fewer in these key business sectors:
- advanced manufacturing
- information technology
- transportation
- warehousing and logistics
- health care
Employers are reimbursed for up to 50 percent of the training costs for each employee, up to $1,800 per employee.
FastForward
FastForward (formerly known as the Workforce Credential Grant) enables eligible employees to attain an industry credential at 1/3 the cost. The grants offset the cost of tuition on select, high-demand credential programs. An employer can pay the first 1/3 of the course cost on behalf of the employee at the time of registration. Upon the employee’s successful completion of the course and the credential, the FastForward grant will pay the other 2/3. The maximum value of each grant is $3,000 per credential.

If the employee doesn’t complete and pass the course, you or the employee will be responsible for an additional 1/3 of the cost.
